    Infor: Designed For Progress

    Charles Phillips, CEO
Enterprise Asset Management(EAM) is not a toddler anymore and has walked through a thousand steps to become a well-settled industry today. Looking at its acceptance in the organizations, CIOs and other business professionals around the world believe that EAM is here to stay. Organizations today demand for asset management which will propel efficiency to the maximum and help in gaining complete productive maintenance. Given the gargantuan progression in the technology landscape, organizations need a system that is prepared for tomorrow. CIOs look forward to latest technologies, tools, and approaches to better comprehend their assets and how they can handle them in real-time more competently.

According to a study by McKinsey, asset-intensive industries such as utilities, oil and gas, public sector, chemicals, and construction are running late when it comes to transforming their asset management operations. This trend became noticeable in 2009 when these industries failed to invest in EAM because of its sudden advent and today such industries are following the consequences in the form of low productivity. So, it is evident that EAM needs to be more cultured but how to make that happen is still a distant dream for many organizations. The Brisbane, Australia based organization, Infor is giving such organizations a roadmap to EAM.

It was June 2002, when Infor was formed under the name of Agilsys with a focus on enterprise software. Since then it is a provider of top-notch EAM software solution with rich built-in functionality and the flexibility to integrate with other applications as needed. Scalable and dynamic, easily deployable, and designed to go are the unique selling points of the Infor EAM software.
Designed on a platform with high uptime, Infor EAM's modern architecture is "scalable and dynamic" when it comes to computing power. The software is "easily deployable" in the cloud as an on-premise or hybrid solution. Infor EAM’s “designed to go” capability makes it available on mobile devices and operating systems.

“At Infor, our value sets us apart. It defines what we do, why we do, and how we do it. It helps us nurture our entrepreneurial culture that enable us to modernize the industries. That’s how we drive progress across the globe,” says Charles Phillips, CEO, Infor. Infor’s systematic progression has allowed its team to design top-notch products for a multitude of industries worldwide such as transit, utilities, manufacturing, public sector, healthcare, chemicals and life sciences amongst others.“Initially, we began dealing with 13,00 customers and today has a customer-base of over 90,000. Our network is expanding because of our customers, they motivate us to deliver better business outcomes,” adds Phillips.

The salient features of Infor EAM—rich functionality and flexibility enable its clients to execute all their business operations successfully in their workplace, much as in the case of First Transit. The U.S. based company, First Transit is a fleet service provider, and for 60 years it has been dealing with every aspect of transportation operations, maintenance, and administration. Before using Infor EAM, the maintenance and facility management professionals at First Transit used to handle the work order manually and operating 4,500 buses solely by technicians was a difficult task. With the help of Infor EAM software, the supervisors of the company were able to schedule their work order and it reduced the hours invested in maintaining the paper work order earlier. From paper work order to now using a tablet, Infor EAM Mobile has enabled the workers to use mobile devices to execute their business operations on their shop floors.
Infor provided the client with increased efficiency and the best practices of its solutions reducing the maintenance cost. Using Infor EAM for 15 years, First Transit reduces their operating expense on average by 3-4 percent every year.

Scalable and dynamic, easily deployable, and designed to go are the unique selling points of the Infor EAM software

Organizations which deals with heavy industry equipment or complex machinery often face challenges of asset failures. This is where Infor EAM is a major differentiator. Infor EAM model such assets as a hierarchical structure of components. Infor Dynamic Science Lab is persistently working on finding new ways to add value to the EAM process. “Our new Infor IoT platform can augment Infor EAM’s asset management skills by applying sensors to particular asset components,” mentions Phillips. The IoT platform easily handles numerous sensors and also examines the sensor readings for predictive analysis. Machine learning capabilities is also a key feature of the IoT platform, which allows pattern detection in data that can be employed for classification and prediction.

Till date, Infor's journey has been a story of challenging prospects. Recently, Infor partnered with Capgemini to offer EAM and consulting expertise driving maintenance organizations towards maintenance maturity and making them stay ahead in the competitive curve. The company has witnessed many transformations whether in terms of infrastructure, business operations, or geographical expansions, starting from Alpharetta, Georgia to New York City’s Silicon Alley, Phillips has left no stone unturned in taking Infor to a next level. Going forward, Infor anticipates fostering its innovative culture and entrepreneurial spirit to transform entire industries and steer progress worldwide.
